We refinish everything

What custom paint means here

Custom paint is hand-designed finishing beyond a factory color: candy and pearl colors, two-tones, airbrushed graphics, hand-pulled pinstripes, flames, lettering and logos, sprayed with automotive urethane paints and sealed under clearcoat. At Round 2 Refinish it's done on cars and trucks, motorcycle tanks and helmets, RVs and boats, commercial and industrial equipment, and household items like appliances — anything with a surface that can be prepped and sprayed.

  • Painted by Armen Hovannesian, a second-generation painter
  • Armen has painted for Disney and Universal Studios
  • Your color is approved on a spray-out card before anything is sprayed
  • Sprayed in the same NFPA 33 booth as our collision work
  • Quoted per project from photos and a conversation, not from a menu

What we refinish

Cars are most of it, not all of it. If it can be prepped, masked and sprayed, it can go through the booth.

Cars and trucks

Candy, pearl, color-shift and two-tone, under gloss, satin or matte clear. A full color change or one accent — a roof, a hood, a stripe package.

Motorcycles

Tanks, fenders, side covers and helmets. A tank sits at eye level and gets looked at from a foot away, so the prep is the job.

RVs and boats

Big panels with their own rules. Gelcoat is sanded uniformly dull and sealed before primer, so the color has something to hold on to.

Commercial and industrial

Equipment, light fixtures, posts and bollards, signage-style lettering on work trucks. Finishes for things that get used hard and hosed off.

Home and odd jobs

Appliances, furniture, the one-off piece nobody else wants to quote. If it fits in the booth, we can talk.

Classics and restorations

A straight color the factory way, or the color it should have come in. Jambs included, so the story holds up when the doors open.

Process

How a custom job goes

You approve the color before the vehicle goes in, and you see photos while it's in the booth.

  1. Design consult

Bring reference photos, a sketch, or a car you saw at a show. We talk through colors, layout and what will actually work on your panels, then Vasken writes a preliminary estimate.

  2. Spray-out approval

Your color is mixed and sprayed on a test card, then checked in daylight and under the booth lights. Nothing goes on the vehicle until you've signed off on the card.

  3. Prep

Strip or scuff, repair what's hiding under the old finish, prime and seal. Custom color over rough bodywork is still rough bodywork, so this step doesn't get rushed.

  4. Color, art, stripes

Masked layouts for two-tones, airbrush for graphics, a striping brush and enamel for pinstripes — over the clear the traditional way, or buried under it with the right prep.

  5. Clear, cut and buff

Urethane clear over everything, then wet-sanded and polished flat so the artwork sits under glass instead of on top of it.

A deposit locks in your materials, and the vehicle comes in once they're here.

The painter

Who paints it

Armen Hovannesian is a second-generation painter — his father painted cars too. Born in 1973, an Armenian immigrant from Lebanon, Armen has painted for Disney and Universal Studios as well as custom cars. The same hands do the candy, the stripes and the airbrush work here.

Vasken, his son, runs the project: the estimate, the deposit, the schedule once materials arrive, and the updates while the vehicle is in the booth. You'll see the spray-out card, the masking and the first coat of clear before you think to ask.

Why here

Why have Armen paint it

Custom work inside a shop that paints cars all week.

  • A painter, not a wrap shop

Custom color here is automotive urethane through a spray gun, and the stripes come off a brush. We install vinyl too, and we'll say so when film is the smarter answer.

  • The booth and the equipment

Our Platinum Finishing Systems downdraft paint booth is built to NFPA 33, the national fire-safety standard for spray-painting operations, and our equipment is ETL-listed by Intertek, an OSHA-recognized testing laboratory.

  • Color approved on a card first

Candy and pearl read differently at every angle and under every light. You approve a sprayed card in daylight, not a swatch on a phone screen.

  • Photo and video updates

Photo and video updates while your car is in the shop, from the masked layout to the first coat of clear.

Custom paint questions

What can you custom paint besides cars?

Motorcycle tanks, fenders and helmets, RVs and boats, commercial and industrial equipment, lettering on work trucks, and household items like appliances. If it can be prepped and sprayed, it can be refinished.

Will airbrushed art or pinstripes hold up outside?

Yes, when they're done under or with a proper clear. Airbrush work is buried under urethane clear — the same clear that protects factory paint. Hand-pulled enamel stripes are durable on their own with hand washing and no pressure washer, and can be cleared over with the right prep.

Can I get a color that doesn't exist from the factory?

That's the point. Candies, pearls, color-shift, two-tones, satin or matte clears — mixed and sprayed on a test card for you to approve before the car goes in the booth. If you want the color but not the permanence, ask about Peel Clear.

Who does the work?

Armen Hovannesian — a second-generation painter who has painted for Disney and Universal Studios as well as custom cars. Vasken runs the project and keeps you updated.

How do I get a quote?

Text photos of the vehicle or item plus reference pictures of what you want. Custom work is quoted per project after a conversation, not from a menu.
